Contexta vs Workflow automation

Workflow tools fire when an event arrives. They are excellent at "when X happens in Y, do Z in W". They are not designed to fire on a pattern that emerges across many events, over time, in a graph. Contexta Reflexes are graph-state triggers: multi-hop conditions, absence-of-edge detection, temporal windows, and motifs. Use workflow tools for plumbing. Use Contexta when the trigger condition is a structural fact.

TL;DR

Zapier and n8n react to flat events. Contexta reacts to graph state.

When to choose Contexta

  • Your trigger condition is a graph pattern — "deal stuck without an exec touchpoint", not "row created".
  • You need temporal windows: "no follow-up in 7 days after the demo".
  • You want a receipt on every fired Reflex so the action is auditable.
  • Your automations need to compose with agent retrieval and LLM calls, not just SaaS API calls.

When NOT to choose Contexta yet

  • For simple "when X happens in Y, do Z in W" automations, Zapier is faster to set up.
  • If you need 600+ SaaS connectors out of the box, a dedicated workflow tool is the right base.
